The relationship between the optical H α filaments and the X - ray emission in the core of the Perseus cluster

چکیده
NGC 1275 in the centre of the Perseus cluster of galaxies, Abell 426, is surrounded by a spectacular filamentary Hα nebula. Deep Chandra X-ray imaging has revealed that the brighter outer filaments are also detected in soft X-rays. This can be due to conduction and mixing of the cold gas in the filaments with the hot, dense intracluster medium. We show the correspondence of the filaments in both wavebands and draw attention to the relationship of two prominent curved NW filaments to an outer, buoyant radio bubble seen as a hole in the X-ray image. There is a strong resemblance in the shape of the hole and the disposition of the filaments to the behaviour of a large air bubble rising in water. If this is a correct analogy, then the flow is laminar and the intracluster gas around this radio source is not turbulent. We obtain a limit on the viscosity of this gas.

In this paper, structural, magnetic, optical, and photocatalytic properties of core-shell structure Fe3O4@GO nanoparticles have been compared with Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the degradation of methyl blue and methyl orange. For this purpose, GO nanosheets were wrapped around the APTMS-Fe3O4 nanoparticles and then charact...
متن کاملOptical and Nano structural properties of Hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanorods in interaction with Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) Protein Solution
Hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanorods were synthesized by hydrothermal method using Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a surfactant agent. To study optical, nanostructural properties, and to control the morphology and shape of nanorods, 0.025 mol L-1, 0.05 mol L-1 and 0.1 mol L-1 concentration of CTAB were used. Moreover, the effect of interaction between bovine serum albumin (BSA) A9418-5G protein...
متن کاملX–ray and Optical Filaments in M87
We compare a very deep X–ray image of M87, at the center of the Virgo Cluster, to high-quality optical images of the low excitation emission-line gas in the same region. There are striking coincidences of detail between the two. We explore the possiblity that this represents a thermal interaction between hot gas at 10 K and warm gas at 10 K. We find two temperatures are present in the X–ray gas...

New CO observations at the center of cooling flow in Perseus cluster [4] show a clear correlation of the molecular gas with the previously detected H-α filaments [1]. In this poster, we present high resolution multi-phase simulations of the Perseus Cluster, taking into account the AGN feedback in form of hot buoyant bubbles. These simulations show that significant amount of gas can cool far fro...
متن کاملNon-thermal X-rays, a high abundance ridge and fossil bubbles in the core of the Perseus cluster of galaxies
Using a deep Chandra observation of the Perseus cluster of galaxies, we find a highabundance shell 250 arcsec (93 kpc) from the central nucleus. This ridge lies at the edge of the Perseus radio mini-halo. In addition we identify two Hα filaments pointing towards this shell. We hypothesise that this ridge is the edge of a fossil radio bubble, formed by entrained enriched material lifted from the...
